Varsity Girls – 2nd Place in Division 2
The varsity girls volleyball team did a great job during the season. They showed Spartan spirit and sportsmanship throughout every game. The whole team collaborated with each other during all the games and brought honor to our school.
The girls varsity started their volleyball journey, with a 3:0 victory against BSB on September 6. On September 16th they played CISB, losing the first 2 sets before coming back to win the final 3 sets and take victory. On September 20th, they lost to HIS 3-0 in a disappointing match. They rebounded for a victory against BIBA on September 23rd. On September 25th against ISB they played a tough 5 set match taking the victory. They closed out the season with victories against DCB and DSP before moving onto the final tournament. Here they moved through the early round before a rematch with HIS. They played an intense 5 set match, with every set coming down to the wire before falling and taking 2nd place. Just as importantly, the girls were recognized for their excellent sportsmanship throughout the season, earning the Sportsmanship trophy.
“The game vs. CISB is the most memorable game, since at first I thought we are going to lose, however, we catch up 3 points, and won the game”. The game really shows the collaboration, the hardworking and the spartan spirit of the girls’ varsity team.
“The player of the week is the whole team. I can't single out a single player, they are all incredible human beings.”
Varsity Girls-1st Place in Division 4
On September 9th, the JV girls played Keystone for the first match of the season. THIS ended up winning in 4 sets to one of the strongest team in the division. On September 20th, they won against HIS. On Sep. 23rd, JV girls swept BIBA in a great match where JV girls serving and offense were really clicking. In whole season, they lost once against BCIS. And in the final tournament, they did an excellent job and they won the championship of ISAC Division 4.
The girls didn’t expect to be the first place because they knew the strength of BCIS having played them earlier in the week. However, after losing the first set, the girls didn’t give up and worked harder, with more communication and Spartan Spirit. Finally, they won the game with surprise and excitement. Their victory was a fulfillment of the joy they played with and appreciation they showed one another as teammates.
This year, girls improved their collaboration and showed their passion towards volleyball that they came to extra practices. They did more passes and hits than other teams. “After a bit of a slow start they started playing as a team and were working together and pulled off a big win against a team that was undefeated.” According to their coach, Mr. Hansen. Congratulations on a great season JV girls volleyball.
Lillian set more balls for hits on one game than we would have over entire tournaments last year. We ended up winning in 4 to probably the strongest team in the division.
Wenny knows all the switches and positions for all the players in the court, passes very well, is serving great and consistently a great hitter.
Isabella led us offensively with several great hits and very consistent serving.
Both teams played well and represented THIS values of sportsmanship, support, growth and hard work throughout thier seasons.
See you next season!
